A Garden that I have been looking after from year 2016 in Christow Devon. The garden was engulfed in Bramble and Weed when I first arrived. All the Brambles had to be dug up one at a time roots and all.
The garden and house are very interesting it goes back to the 14th Century. Not much has changed since then i’m sure. it is a garden overlooked by an old church which gives it it’s old world character. The long lost souls rest in peace as the clock strikes noon, overlooking the tumbling wall. When the summer sun shines through strong, warm and dappled bright, through the trees of Plum, Apple, young Cherry, and Quincy. Here there is no better place to be. A warm translucent light. Better than Sicily, Sardinia or even Granada in Spain. Quietness of nature and unhurried time prevails in this Tranquil relaxing space. A garden allowed to grow not too tamed a garden seeped in time peace and history.
The Pond of Bull Rushes.
Every summer they begin to appear of umber brown pointed tips, waving and dancing in the breeze. Soaked by the rain baked by the summer sun.

The owner Mark has said there is Bird of Prey now nesting in the church tower overlooking the garden, Osprey I think. There is a recording of Swifts from the tower too. To attract back Swifts to the area. Which has worked for the last ten years. We saw one flying over the garden very high.

Autumn in the garden. November 2024. Dartmoor.
As the leafs come down and the evenings fall sooner. The low down golden light shines up the darkness of the earth.
